Legacy... - West & Rose Farm

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving full of good food, family and friends!

Last weekend I was lucky enough to accompany our son, Bubba, to his first real Auburn football game! We have all gone to A-Day, which is the spring scrimmage, but Bubba had never been to a real Auburn football game until this past weekend.

Two of our good friends have season tickets and were kind enough to give us tickets to the Auburn game against University of Louisiana-Monroe.  We decided to let Bubba go as a reward for getting a PERFECT mid-term report card.  Hubs and I were duking it out for the other ticket!

The morning of the game we asked Bubba who he would like to go with.  I had prepared myself for this moment, as I knew he would want to go with his daddy.  I was completely shocked when he said he wanted me to take him!  It made me feel really good and plus I love any excuse to go to Auburn.  It is one of my favorite places in the whole wide world!

Auburn won the game so I also got to be there for Bubba's first time rolling Toomer's Corner.  Those of you who are not familiar with Auburn traditions, after any win we roll the live oak trees at the corner of College and Magnolia.  Unfortunately, the original tree, that was over 200 years old that I rolled all through college, no longer stands thanks to a criminal poisoning our beloved tree.

As we were walking back to the car to head home, Bubba stopped suddenly and said "Mama, I want you to take a picture of me with my football right here!" So we stopped and he sat down in the grass and posed.  I looked up and realized that he chose to sit right underneath the Auburn Alumni Center sign! A sign of things to come? Who knows, either way it was so wonderful to share the place that started it all for our family. The place where I met his daddy eleven years ago!

Tomorrow is the Iron Bowl.  The most important football game in the South besides the Auburn/Georgia game.  The Iron Bowl is the annual Auburn vs Alabama football game.  It is always intense and is something that I look forward to all football season.

Signing off with a big WAR EAGLE to all of my Auburn family!
