Bits & Pieces...and a giveaway! - West + Rose

Bits & Pieces...and a giveaway!

Ever since we got back from our beach vacation, it has been a whirlwind and there is no sign of things slowing down anytime soon.  I felt like I kept waiting for summer to slow down a bit...and it never did.  Lesson learned: Quit waiting!

Bubba turned 6 years old while we were at the beach.  We used this trip as an excuse to not throw a birthday party and he bought it for the most part.  Feeling a little guilty about that, but not really...

Wednesday was the first day of school for Bubba.  He started first grade.  I had planned to walk him in on his first day, but he insisted on being dropped off.  Hurt just a little, but I went with it.  When I was hugging him goodbye, I may have been holding on a little too long, and he started to pull away.  I wouldn't let him go just yet so he exclaimed "Mama, Let me go! I love you too!" and ran towards his school.  This mama cried as she drove away from the school.  I was so proud of him and how independent he has become, but was also devastated by the fact that he doesn't need me as much as he used to.  He has had a great first week.  He misses his Kindergarten teacher, but really loves his 1st grade teacher too.  I am excited to see and hear all the cool things he learns this year.

I love getting to watch the Braves at least three nights a week, but I am SO ready for football season!  If you have been reading this blog for a while, you will know how much I love Auburn football.  Any of my readers excited for football season? Who do y'all cheer for? Please don't say Bama! ...kidding...kind of...

I am in the very early stages of renaming and rebranding the blog.  As I have said before, I feel as though I no longer identify quite as strongly with "Red Velvet Rooster" as I used to.  I will be cleaning up the blog to make it more user friendly and I hope the new name will expand my opportunities.  This blog has had a record year, and it has been so much fun, so I hope rebranding will allow for even more opportunities for partnerships as well as more opportunities to get to know my readers.  So, vote in the poll below...then be sure to enter the giveaway for a $25 Target gift card!!

What should I rename the blog?

I am starting to plan for Vivian's first birthday.  I cannot believe I just said that sentence, as it feels like I just had her a month ago!  I tried doing a themed party for Jack's first birthday, and while it was fun...it was unnecessary.  This time, I hope to gather with a few family members and close friends for a fall get together.  Her birthday is towards the end of October, which means the weather should be really nice for an outdoor get together.  Look at these adorable invitations I have found on Etsy!!

Happy Friday, y'all!  We made it!  To all the parents out there struggling with this back-to-school thing: You are doing great!  Hang in there, the routine will come easy again soon...At least that is the lie I am currently telling myself...

Aw, love the "our little pumpkin" ideas for your daughter's birthday.

Thanks for the fun Target giveaway. I'd probably put it toward an outfit or some new shoes for the fall/winter.
