warning...lots of bragging - West & Rose Farm

warning...lots of bragging

It has been a hot minute since I have done some updates about our family and what we have been up to...So here are some of the highlights of the last month...

Vivian is 6 months old...Didn't I just have her six days ago?  She is an absolute joy.  She screamed at us for the first three months of her life due to horrible colic and reflux.  It was awful, but then overnight the colic was gone and suddenly we had the sweetest little girl God ever made.  She is as sweet as honey, truly.  She is the most joyful creature I have ever met.  She is extremely vocal and is sitting up.  She has been eating baby foods for over a month and is partial to sweet potatoes.  For the most part, she will sleep around 11 hours a night...but she will still get up at night every so often.  At her 6 month well-check she was 20 lbs 11 oz (90th percentile) and 29 inches long (98th percentile)  She looks more like a 12-18 month old.  She is Bubba's little diamond doll and is one the sidelines with me at every game.  There is absolutely nothing or no one that she loves more than her brother.  She lights up the second she hears his voice or sees his face.

Speaking of Bubba...He has had an amazing school year.  He is finishing up Kindergarten and has done incredibly well this school year.  I was concerned that we may have put him in Kindergarten too early as his birthday is at the very end of July...So he turned 5 and then just a few days later, he started Kindergarten.  I was worried that he would not be able to keep up, both socially and academically, with his classmates...some of whom are 6 almost 7 years old.  He has been able to keep up and then some this year.  From sight words to math to art and music, he has excelled.  I am so thankful that I listened to my gut and let him start Kindergarten this year.  Mamas, you know your child the best...take the advice you receive and weigh it all out, but at the end of the day it is your call and no one else's.

I have to brag on Bubba a little bit more, y'all!  He has had an amazing season of baseball.  His team went undefeated and he improved exponentially over the course of the season.  He was asked to try-out for the County All-Star team and so he did and he made the team!  A year ago, he made a goal to make the All-Star team and he kept his eye on the prize until he achieved it.  This has been one of the most fun experiences as a parent.  I watched him struggle in his first season of coach-pitch baseball.  He struck out a lot and spent a lot of time in the outfield.  Over the course of a year and a half I have watched him dedicate himself to this sport.  He now scores runs in every game, with a few home runs here and there, and has done really well on second and third base.  He has worked hard to get where he is today and it is so rewarding, as a parent, to watch your child work towards a goal and achieve it.  So proud of that boy!

Hubs and I are about to become more socially active then we have been since Vivian was born.  On hubs birthday, we are going to see the Braves play at the new Suntrust Park.  Bubba is going as well and we are all excited to see the new stadium.  Bubba will get to walk in the pre-game parade on the field with his fellow county baseball players.  A week after the Braves game, we are going to The Dead & Company (Grateful Dead and John Mayer) concert with  a couple of friends of ours.  Four days after that concert we will be going to the Luke Bryan concert in Atlanta with some other good friends of ours.  The first two weeks of June are going to be crazy, but I am so excited about every bit of it!!

Thankful to have this weekend.  This is the first weekend in about 6 weeks that we have not had anything lined up.  Now that Bubba is on All-Stars, after this weekend we will not have another free weekend until mid-July...I am going to savor every bit of this weekend and prepare myself for the chaos that is being a baseball mama. I wouldn't have it any other way!!

Happy Friday, y'all!

Linking up with some of my favorites

  1. You have the most adorable baby girl! Yay for getting back into the social scene after baby; we still aren't there, so I'll be living vicariously!
