Hi There! - West & Rose Farm

Hi There!

Long time no see!  I gave myself the week off because our life has just seemed more chaotic and crazy than usual and I needed a breather.  We had some awful weather last week, plus Bubba was on spring break, and it really just threw everything off.  Nonetheless, blogging is a type of therapy for me and I have missed it.  I enjoy sharing my thoughts and experiences, whether I have over a thousand page views or two page views.  I do this for me.

So here are some highlights of the last couple weeks...

I gave a new meaning to the term  "Come hell or high water" last week during the storms.  Bubba was home safe with the Hubs, as well as my Mother and Step-Father.  Vivian, on the other hand, was at daycare.  When we went under tornado warning and the power went out, I wrestled with the idea of risking it to go protect my baby as well as help the daycare center with the other babies if need be.  My office is about two miles from Vivian's daycare.  So while sirens were going off, I made the decision to drive to Vivian.  Little did I know, a tornado was happening behind where I work...Thankfully, I was going in the opposite direction of the tornado and made it to Vivian safe and sound.

Bubba has grown used to these warnings, and while he takes them seriously...he also is not going to let a measly tornado keep him from eating...especially if pizza is involved...

In between tornado warnings last week, Bubba lost his very first tooth.  This boy has been dying to loose his first tooth for months, y'all!  He is one of the youngest in his class, as some in his class are six and possibly even seven years old.  They have all been losing teeth and talking about what the tooth fairy brought them and Bubba's over there like "I still have all my baby teeth...womp womp" Now he fits in with the rest and has a huge gap in his smile.

Saturday, we went to our happy place.  A U B U R N!  It was A-Day at Auburn, which is our annual scrimmage game and celebration.  The weather was gorgeous and we had such a wonderful, low-key family day.  Bubba got to high 5 the entire football team, twice, and he was in hog heaven.  He got to go down on the field with his Daddy to welcome the football team back out for the second half and also experienced Tiger Walk for the first time.  Both those boys were on a high!  This was Vivian's first trip to Auburn and really it was her first trip out of our town.  She did amazing.  She loved being outside all day and looked plum perfect in her bonnet.  She wears her southern well. War Eagle!

Lately, I am drowning as a parent.  From Easter egg hunts, to baseball practices and games to family functions...I am dropping balls left and right.  We literally do not have time to breathe.  I love it most days, but I hate feeling like I am scrambling all the time.  No matter how much I write in my planners and prep the night before, balls still get dropped.  All mamas deserve medals for doing their thing and keeping their kids alive...but I just have to give an extra special shout out to the full-time working mamas.  24 hours is just not enough time.  I need a day to be 36 hours to truly get everything done that needs to be done.  I know I am going to look back on this time in my life and wonder how in the hell I did it all. I also know I am going to look back at the time and miss it desperately. #tryingtokeepperspective

Just wanted to share a video that is guaranteed to make you smile.  Vivian was the missing piece of the puzzle that we did not even know was missing from our family.  She has brought so much joy, laughter and sunshine to our brood.  She has lightened us up and kept us all, Bubba included, from taking life too seriously.

Happy Friday, y'all!

Linking up with some of my favorite friday blogs!!

  1. Goodness gracious - I am so glad your family was safe during tornadoes! I would have had a heart attack if I had to deal with that with any sort of regularity.
