Get your head out of the gutter...we are talking bedroom style, not activities!

Hubs and I are starting to update our bedroom.  We have lived in our home for a year and a half and have made some updates throughout the home such as painting the walls in communal areas, replacing fixtures and putting down hardwood floors...but we have let our bedroom fall by the wayside.  We have not thought much about our bedroom as no one goes in there, except for us, and it seems like we are rarely in there these days!  First order of business: Painting the bedroom.  We are looking at colors like these:

We are still using furniture from college aka my late grandparent's furniture.  This furniture has not been lightly used.  From getting knocked over when the hubs, then boyfriend, and I stumbled into bed after a night out in Auburn, to getting hot candle wax all over them when I forgot to blow the candles out...These pieces of furniture have been through hell...not to mention they have been moved at least 6 times to various apartments and homes in the last 10 years.  Luckily the furniture is all solid wood and handmade so they are definitely built to last. I am painfully nostalgic, so each piece of furniture has a story to tell and a memory to hold.  For instance, I have my Granddaddy's old writing desk.  He was a writer and a WWII veteran, which makes this desk extra special to me.  Unfortunately, it does not have enough space in the age of computers. Instead of getting rid of it, I am going to paint it, update the hardware and turn it into a vanity for me to put on my make-up and get ready in the morning.

Here are some of my inspirational pins for our bedroom decor...

The Buffalo Check quilt is from a really awesome Etsy shop called Little Bits of Everything Farmhouse Wares.  Check them out here!

It has taken me some time to truly pinpoint what my style preferences are.  Here is what I have discovered about myself...

What have you discovered about your style? Does your style change with the trends or do you stick to what you know?

Happy Hump Day, y'all!
