High Five for Friday! - West & Rose Farm

High Five for Friday!

Happy Friday!  I am super pumped for the weekend because my beautiful Mama and Step-Dad are in town to see our new house.  They are our first overnight guests.  Bubba absolutely loves when they come to town.  We really can't wait for the day they move up to GA to be with us for good, but a weekend visit will have to do for now.

1. Our sweet Sassafras, Sasquatch, Sassy Mae turned 8 on Monday.  Hubs and I have had her since we were in college at Auburn.  There are just no words to describe how much we love our four-legged child.  She is a Jack-A-Huahua (Part Jack Russel, Park Chihuahua) and can sometimes be a little too much huahua, but we still think she is the best and prettiest dog on earth.

2. I have several great fall recipes coming up on the blog soon.  One of them will be in liquid form...

3. We are late in getting pumpkins carved this season.  I fully intend to make up for it this weekend by carving two or three pumpkins.  I am so excited that we now live in a bonafide neighborhood that is full of kids at the trick-or-treat age.  I hope to have our front porch decorated for us to hand out candy and temporary tattoos for the ones with allergies.  I hope to do a teal painted pumpkin to help parents of children with food allergies.  I can only imagine the fear parents of children with food allergies go through on a daily basis.

Check out my pinterest board with lots of carving and teal pumpkin ideas!

4. So of all the stages children go through, 4 years old has been the most difficult so far.  Hubs and I look back on the baby months and can't get over how easy it is when they are babies.  Sleep deprivation is nothing in comparison to back talk and tantrums.  Don't get me wrong, my kid is amazingly well-behaved and has such a kind-hearted soul.  On the flip side, he also has a knack for choosing bad behavior over good behavior. We have focused our efforts on rewarding good behavior and not putting emphasis on the bad behavior.  We try to make sure he knows we do not expect perfection from him, as that is unreasonable for anyone.  In the end, he is a wonderful human being and he inspires me daily with his deep thoughts and inquisitive disposition.  I am thankful for his strong will.  It may be inconvenient now, but I pray that it serves him well as he gets older.

5. One of the great things about the 'rents coming to town is the fact that we all get to do brunch at Callaway Gardens for their wedding anniversary.  The Hubs and I got married there and we make a point to take Bubba there at least once a year.  It is a truly magical place for our family and I am looking forward to spending time in one of our favorite places with some of our favorite people.

Happy Friday to you and yours!
